5 Fun Events to Attend this Fall in Orange County
International Street Fair – Orange, CA
August 31 – September 2, 2018
Since 1973, the Orange International Street Fair has been bringing family fun, folk dancing and international cuisine to Orange County. This internationally inspired festival started in 1973 when the city of Orange was looking for ways to celebrate their centennial anniversary. They decided on the OISF, and it was such a hit that it became an annual tradition in the city of Orange. It has since evolved into a huge celebration. There are areas geared toward small children with age appropriate activities, areas for adults and plenty of activities in between. There’s something for everyone. School may have started up, but there’s no reason you can’t enjoy amazing food, craft beverages and unique vendors celebrating over the long weekend.
The Great Labor Day Cruise – Costa Mesa, CA
September 1- 2, 2018
If you like classic cars, this is the event for you. This marks the 36th year of the Great Labor Day Cruise, where hundreds of thousands of classic cars cruise along a 1.25 mile cruise route for the enjoyment of spectators and participants. The event is relatively inexpensive at $15 a day, and there are vendors and activities occurring throughout the day.
Tall Ships Festival – Dana Point, CA
September 7- 9, 2018
California has a rich maritime history. In order to keep that history alive, The Ocean Institute hosts an annual event that is like nothing that you’ve ever experienced. For three days, it’s almost like you step into a time machine, travelling back to a time where there are cannon battles, pirate adventures and mermaid encounters. Historical re-enactors entertain the audience, with a blend of history and fictional elements. But one of the most interesting parts of the festival is that you’re able to tour the ships. And these aren’t just any ships, these are magnificent, intricate ships that have a rich history to tell. There’s also a variety of food trucks, a beer garden and craft vendors to feed and hydrate festival-goers. If you’re feeling adventurous, check out the unique Tall Ships Festival.
Oktoberfest – Huntington Beach, CA
September 9 – October 28, 2018, Wednesday through Sunday
Fall is here and that means so is Oktoberfest, where craft German beer and bratwursts reign supreme. Huntington Beach just so happens to have one of the best Oktoberfest celebrations around, with a lineup that you can enjoy with or without family. Fridays and Saturdays are adult only days, but Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, there are a variety of events that cater to those attendees who are bringing their children. There’s German music, Dachshund racing, and all kinds of German food and entertainment. Explore food and beer from another region, and make your way down to Oktoberfest.
San Clemente Sea Fest – San Clemente, CA
Sunday, October 7, 2018
It’s time to mark your calendars for the 31st annual San Clemente SeaFest. This event is a whole lot of fun for the family. There’s a chowder cook off, where home-cooks and even restaurants come with their best chowder to try and win over the taste buds of San Clemente. There is a People’s Choice award that is awarded by the individuals that attend the event, so you get to taste the chowder and vote on your favorite. In addition, the Surf Classic Competition is held at the same time so after the festival, you can watch the surf and see competitors of all ages compete for awards. If you’re bringing the kids, there is an arts and crafts exhibit and plenty of activities to fill the day. There’s even a free shuttle running to and from the festival parking lot at San Clemente High School from 10am-3pm.
